When arriving for your early pregnancy scan you will be greeted by one of our friendly chaperone team who will accompany you throughout your visit with us. Prior to the scan you will be asked to fill in some details about yourself, this pregnancy and any previous pregnancies so we can understand your reasons for booking an early pregnancy scan with us but also to ensure the appropriate care is provided. If you are pre 10 weeks’ gestation at the time of your appointment a trans-vaginal scan is medically recommended as per NICE guidelines for more accurate, diagnostic results. (You will not need to attend with a full bladder for this). If you believe you are 10 weeks+ the scan will be conducted abdominally, and a full bladder is required. Please note a trans-vaginal scan is with consent and can be declined however this can affect the accuracy of the results. For further information on trans-vaginal scanning please click here. Your scan will be conducted by our fully registered and qualified sonographers who will talk you through the findings following your scan and provide you with an early pregnancy obstetric report and print to take home. In the event that ongoing care is required we will arrange this for you and provide any relevant documentation for your follow up appointment with your local NHS trust.
